Standard Solar, Inc., in a partnership with Urban Grid, announced the completion of the final phase of a 2.1 megawatt solar project at Delaware Technical Community College.
The project is one of the largest solar systems in Delaware. The system spans over multiple campus buildings across all three counties and generates more than 2,960,000 kilowatt hours per year, offsetting 12 percent of the energy needs at four of the college's campuses.
"It's been a pleasure to partner with both Standard Solar and Urban Grid during the past four years as part of the College's Sustainability Energy Management Plan to reduce our carbon footprint 20% by the year 2020," said Dr. Mark T. Brainard, president of the college. "This project, combined with the implementation of over $6 million in Energy Conservation measures throughout the College and the good work of the Campus Energy Task Forces will result in exceeding our goal three years early."
The second phase added a rooftop array and carport array to the Terry Campus in Dover and two rooftop arrays in the Owens Campus in Georgetown.
