Delaware Business Times' parent company Today Media is adding to its menu of popular lifestyle and specialty publications, websites, and events, by acquiring The Valley Table magazine and the popular Hudson Valley Restaurant Week.
In announcing the acquisition, Today Media CEO Robert A. Martinelli noted, "This is a positive step for the local culinary industry as both companies are dedicated to telling the stories of the people, businesses, restaurants, farms and history that make the Hudson Valley a unique world class food destination."
Valley Table President and Publisher and Co-founder of Hudson Valley Restaurant Week Janet Crawshaw agreed, saying, "This acquisition enables Today Media to expand its audience and build on The Valley Table's success while honoring the mission and values that have made Valley Table an authority in its specialty."
The ValleyTable and Hudson Valley Restaurant Week will soon be based out of Today Media's Fishkill, NY office. They will work closely with the editorial and sales staff of Hudson Valley Magazine to maximize and grow both the magazine and the restaurant week events.
"This acquisition will also bring together two of the largest, most iconic food events in the region, as many of the restaurants that participate in Hudson Valley Restaurant Week will also be featured at Westchester Magazine's Wine & Food Festival, June 4-9," said Michael Martinelli, publisher of Today Media's Hudson Valley Group.
In 1998, after traveling 35,000 miles across the country seeking authentic American experiences, Crawshaw and Novesky founded The Valley Table magazine with the goal of amplifying the voice of local chefs, farmers and producers. Eight years later, they launched Hudson Valley Restaurant Week. The two-week culinary event, which takes place each Spring and Fall, began with 70 restaurants and the backing of a distinguished group of chefs, restaurateurs and tourism leaders.
Today, more than 200 restaurants, spanning seven counties participate in the event. It is among the largest restaurant week events in the country, supporting sustainability, small businesses, and the "eat, drink and buy local" movement.
Started in 1948 as a newspaper and printing company, Today Media has grown into a dynamic multi-platform communications company serving a five-state region along the East Coast. It publishes four monthly, regional lifestyle magazines (Hudson Valley Magazine, Westchester Magazine, Delaware Today and Main Line Today), two business publications (914INC., serving the Westchester/Hudson Valley region and The Delaware Business Times covering the state of Delaware), along with annual weddings magazines in New York, Delaware and Pennsylvania, Westchester Home, a quarterly shelter magazine and The Hunt, a quarterly publication covering the Brandywine Valley and Main Line Philadelphia.
Chefs throughout the region credit Today Media and The Valley Table with fostering a culinary renaissance in the region.
