What have you done to help the community?
During the past two decades I have been an active member of the Delaware SHRM Chapter board of directors by assisting with membership and serving in many leadership roles. As the president of the chapter, I was able to increase our membership by more than 20% for two years. I have also been a member of Associated Builders and Contractors Delaware (ABC) for the past 12 years. We developed an awards program and made some inroads to embracing diversity, but I felt that wasn’t enough. I invited a number of organizations to ask them to participate on our committee. Over the past 18 months, we’ve developed a mentoring program with MBE/DBE companies, participated in the state/city matchmaking events, increased applicants for the Diversity Utilization Award and the Diversity & Culture in the Workplace Award, and provided support for the CAPs program with Delaware.
