Do you have plans to open, purchase or expand a business in Sussex County? Do you need assistance with licenses or permits, business plan writing, marketing or getting ready to apply for financing? Sussex County’s “Open for Business" is a free business development session for startup and existing businesses.
“Whether you’re a startup or established business looking for assistance in writing a business plan, marketing, business continuity planning or working with financial institutions, you can find it at Sussex County’s Open for Business,” said Scott Thomas, executive director of Southern Delaware Tourism, one of the Open for Business service providers.
The monthly event will take place on Wednesday November 21, 2018, from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the Fireside Lounge, Student Services Center at Delaware Technical Community College Owens Campus in Georgetown, Delaware.
Sussex County’s Open for Business is partnering with 1 Million Cups, a Kauffman Foundation educational program that is designed to engage, educate, and accelerate local startups. Two presenters from startup and young businesses in Sussex County will talk about their companies.
The audience is made up of entrepreneurs, advisers, and people getting ready to start their own companies. During the event, each presenter is given feedback, suggestions and ideas to make their business work better where everyone there gets to learn from the entire conversation. For its November session, the event will focus on veteran-owned businesses.
Sponsored by the Sussex Economic Development Action Committee Inc. (SEDAC), Sussex County’s Open for Business is held the third Wednesday of each month and offers free, one-stop access to an array of organizations, agencies and resource partners who assist small businesses in funding, business consulting and training in Sussex County.
Launched in 2010, Sussex County’s Open for Business has fostered support and growth for startups and well-established businesses representing a broad spectrum of sectors in the county including manufacturing, construction, retail, restaurants and services.
