Amira Idris, founder of Vibrating Therapeutic Apparel, was named the winner of the Swim with The Sharks Video Pitch Competition, sponsored by the Emerging Enterprise Center (EEC), a New Castle County Chamber of Commerce (NCCCC) initiative.
The Swim with The Sharks (SWTS) Video Pitch Competition is modeled after ABC Network's hit television show "Shark Tank." The EEC, Delaware's only small business incubator, required competition participants to submit a three-minute video pitch showcasing their company and describing how the prize package could be used to promote their business.
Idris received 55 percent of the vote and a$7,950 prize package that includes:
$2,500 in cash
$2,500 one-year business tax service, provided by Williams Humphreys & Co.
$1,200 six-month membership to EEC Virtual Incubation Program
$1,400 NCCCC Marketing Package
$350 one-year NCCCC membership
Runners-up Nerd It Now and Jade Biotech received a one-year membership to the NCCCC.
Vibrating Therapeutic Apparel created a sleeve that uses vibration therapy to help people with amputated limbs better manage phantom limb pain, a condition that affects about 2 million amputees in the United States.
