Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore recently welcomed Pamela A. Patone, of Middletown, as its new vice president/chief financial officer. Most recently, Patone worked as the comptroller for the Municipal Services Commission of the City of New Castle until she was promoted to general manager. Before that position she was an in-charge accountant with Belfint, Lyons & Shuman, P.A. She has nonprofit experience having served as the director of finance for Opera Delaware and as chief financial officer of the Ministry of Caring. Patone is replacing Samuel Winder, who retired from Easterseals after four years of service.

Delaware Correction Commissioner Claire DeMatteis has been appointed by Gov. John Carney to a new position as special assistant to the governor, overseeing management of federal stimulus funding received by the state of Delaware, and assisting with crisis management projects across state government. She has served as commissioner of the Delaware Department of Correction (DOC) since 2019. Previously, DeMatteis served as special assistant to Carney overseeing reforms to Delaware’s corrections system. Deputy Corrections Commissioner Monroe B. Hudson Jr. will be nominated to replace DeMatteis as commissioner of DOC. Hudson has served as deputy commissioner since 2019. Previously, he served for 31 years in the Delaware State Police, rising to the rank of lieutenant colonel and serving as deputy superintendent of Delaware’s largest police agency. The Delaware Senate is expected to consider Hudson’s nomination on June 23.Gov. John Carney will nominate Jacqueline Mette to serve as the next Alcohol Beverage Control commissioner. Mette has served as deputy legal counsel for Carney since 2018. Previously, she served as chief policy adviser for the Delaware Department of Services for Children, Youth, and their Families. The Delaware Senate is expected to consider Mette’s nomination on June 23. Mette would replace Commissioner John H. Cordrey, who is retiring after serving for two decades in the position.

Cora Banks has joined NorthNode Group Counseling as chief strategy officer, focusing on strategic planning, leading continuous process improvements, as well as being responsible for business outreach, development, and the cultivation of new partnerships with not-for-profit and for-profit companies who are looking to be a part of the growing mental health industry. With more than 30+ years of senior leadership, she brings high-level experience from her previous roles as a former division chief at the U.S. Department of Defense. Banks also consulted and has advised the Veterans Administration in large-scale infrastructure implementations and technical program management in electronic health records.

Beebe Healthcare has welcomed distinguished surgeon Dr. Jesus Esquivel to Beebe Medical Group. Board certified in general surgery, Esquivel has decades of experience as a general surgeon and surgical oncologist with a fellowship in gastrointestinal cancer. Prior to joining Beebe, Esquivel was an attending surgeon and director of the Peritoneal Surface Malignancy Program at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Maryland. He is a pioneer in the advancement of hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) for patients with advanced gastrointestinal and gynecological cancer. He also completes general surgery procedures.

Michael Barrow has been promoted to chief operating officer at Insurance Associates Inc. in Newark. He joined Insurance Associates in 2013 as an intern and quickly became a licensed insurance agent. Barrow works in the Commercial Lines department where he specializes in risk management solutions for service contractors. As COO, he will oversee the day-to-day operations to grow the agency's portfolio.
