How have you stepped up and taken on additional HR responsibilities?
When I first came to United, I put processes in place to make the recruitment cycle more efficient. Those changes enable me to be more active in other areas of human resources by taking on special projects. These projects help the organization, as well as further my development as an HR professional. I'm currently working on a special project evaluating our vacation policy and adjusting it based on the market demands. I've gotten involved in employee relations and was active in hiring our new benefits specialist and talent coordinator.
What are the skills/contributions that have positioned you within your organization as an emerging leader?
I am extremely curious. I consistently raise my hand to work with different teams across the organization to expand my skill set and to prepare me to be a strategic business partner. Since I didn't come from this industry, I serve as fresh eyes and try to come up with ideas that are new and creative. I try to approach our talent acquisition efforts with a strategic mindset to determine how we can support growing the business.
