DOVER —Bayhealthis continuing to shore up more property as it has bought land next door to its Kent County Campus for $2.3 million.P and N Partnership, a limited liability company held by Kent County attorneys Michael Parkowski, Barry Guerke, Clay Jester and Jeremy Homer, sold an office building at 110-114 W. Water St. to Bayhealth in December. The office building is a block east of Bayhealth’s Neurosurgery Center and its parking lot backs into Bayhealth’s lot for its professional offices.“There are no permanent plans in place for the property at this time, but it could provide space for additional parking and offices as Bayhealth develops plans to expand our service offerings for central Delaware residents,” John Van Gorp, Bayhealth senior vice president of planning, business development and government relations, told Delaware Business Times.Since 2019, Bayhealth has spent $28.4 million on property acquisitions in Kent and Sussex counties, according to land records. More than half that amount comes from Bayhealth buying more space in the Blue Hen Corporate Center, a $17 million deal that closed at the end of last month.Among the top purchases was the former Lab Corp space on 1078 S. State St. in Downtown Dover for $3.87 million in March 2021; a professional building on 30 Old Rudnick Lane for $2 million in 2019; and the Water Street property. In 2020, Bayhealth also spent $945,000 on land in Harrington and another $500,000 on a building in the Enterprise Business Park.Meanwhile, the health care system bought residential land that sits across the street from its Sussex Campus for $1.18 million in 2020. At the time, Van Gorp said the purchase was a strategic move to be flexible in Bayhealth’s expansion of services.Another home was bought in early 2021 nearby for another $580,000. Bayhealth has since announced it would partner with Post Acute Medical (PAM) Rehabilitation Hospital of Dover to open a new facility on its Sussex Campus. At the end of 2021, Bayhealth secured $103 million in municipal bonds to fuel its expansion plans throughout Kent and Sussex counties. Those plans include renovating existing property and expanding its residency program.
