What have been the biggest obstacles your company has faced over the past three years, and how did you overcome them?
Market changes in our industry and technology disrupters in our space. In an industry that is driven by economic trends and regulatory agencies, we have to stay on top of our game. Our team constantly reviews industry trends, consults undustry experts and is a voice for our industry with our State and Federal represenatives
Looking back, what’s the biggest mistake you made and what would you do differently if you could?
Not acting soon enough to the trends we saw in the technology space and underestimating how quickly technology would change the face of transportation. We should have invested more, sooner, to stay on top of that trend but we overcame the obstacle and are in a good place in our technology.
What is the most valuable lesson you’ve learned over the past three years?
The time is always now to have a good succession plan. We have a great team of leaders but we had not created clear career paths or identified the leaders who we needed to train for their next role. We have now created those career paths and created a leadership training program. Additionally, we are filling our pipeline with the next generation of leaders.
