The number of residential building permits is on the rise in Cecil County.

Cecil County's Office of Land Use and Development Services (LUDS) has already issued 160 residential building permits (which includes single family homes, apartments and townhomes) so far this year. That brings the 2019 total to 320 permits, compared to 191 the prior year.

"The statistics seem to indicate that County Executive McCarthy's efforts to improve and streamline the permitting process is finally bearing fruit," said LUDS Director Eric Sennstrom. "Hopefully, these trends will continue in an upward fashion and lead to a solid renaissance in all segments of the residential home building market."

"Our continued efforts to improve infrastructure and broaden the employment base by bringing in new businesses and expanding opportunities with current companies, as well as instituting greater county-wide services and developing our parks, is drawing residents to Cecil County," said County Executive Alan McCarthy. "I am very pleased with the direction we are headed."
