ODESSA – The roots of Epic Marketing Consultants Corporation were grown out of a tragic 2002 accident when Don Dibert was critically injured in a fall.“They didn’t think he would survive,” his wife and the company’s CEO Nancy Dibert recalled, noting that he spent months afterward in therapy relearning how to talk and read. “As we restarted his recovery, we made a conscious decision that we were never going to spend another minute apart, and that anything we did we were going to do together.”At the suggestion of a professor helping Don relearn how to read, they sought out work at a marketing agency. While they enjoyed the work, they faced challenges in the workplace that convinced them to strike out on their own.“We never asked them to, but most of our clients bought themselves out of their contracts and followed us, so from day one we thankfully had clients,” she said.The company was founded to put family first, and it has continued to do so over its more than a decade in operation. While Nancy serves as Epic Marketing’s CEO and Don serves as president, the company has also grown to include their children, Mike and Belva Dibert. Nancy’s and Don’s mothers have also been brought into the company in different roles. That family-first dynamic extends to all of their employees in Delaware and remotely as well.“They are not our employees. We think of them, truly, as family,” Nancy said. “It's a really cool dynamic and our clients love it, because they know that when they call or email that it's not going to be someone who's five times removed from the family, chances are they're going to get someone with the last name Dibert.”The full-service creative marketing and advertising agency provides both traditional and digital marketing, as well as consulting services, with areas of expertise in marketing, advertising, public relations, and media buying.Dibert noted that Epic Marketing, like many companies, had to contend with the ups and downs of the pandemic this year and the reality of remote working, where children and spouses were often new distractions. They’ve worked to provide resources to employees amid the pandemic so that they could continue to be successful.“Our staff comes before our clients. It's more important to us that our staff is comfortable and well taken care of, because if we take care of them, they're going to take care of our clients,” she explained.
