DOVER – The Downtown Dover Partnership (DDP) and Mosaic Development Partners held a small charette for economic development, transportation and planning leaders to view the downtown Dover master plan.

This charette is part of the listening and ideation processes whereby Mosaic team members learn more about Dover and, with the community, begin to create concepts for its future, including residential, business and workforce needs and opportunities; transportation; trends in the economy and how people are living and working; and to guide investment and re-development strategies.

“We will hold several additional charettes and meetings over the coming months in which the community will be invited to provide input,” Diane Laird, DDP executive director. said in a statement

Poster boards will be provided at City Hall, the Dover Public Library, Kent County Levy Court, House of Coffi, and various Dover locations where community members can comment on the land survey.

The target area for the plan includes Loockerman Street and adjacent neighborhoods within the City of Dover and will take into consideration development nodes within the 250-acre Downtown Development District. This area is also designated as a qualified opportunity zone, indicating that it is a high priority target area for redevelopment and reinvestment. Delaware State University and DDP representatives have begun meeting regularly for planning efforts, considering the recent acquisition of the Wesley College campus by DSU and opportunities for a stronger college presence downtown.
