United Way of Delaware (UWDE) announced that Julia Ashworth of JPMorgan Chase and Vince Stutts of DuPont were each elected to a three-year term on the UWDE Board of Directors. Additionally, Doug Phillips of Horty & Horty, P.A. was elected to a one-year term as Chair of UWDE’s Audit Committee, and Lauren Russell of Young Conaway Stargatt & Taylor was elected as an ex-officio Board member and named General Counsel of UWDE. Prior to joining Chase in 2012, she was a marketing executive at Bank of America. During her 16 years at Bank of America and MBNA, Ashworth held diverse leadership positions in areas of marketing, product strategy, lending operations, customer service, collections, and insurance services. He currently serves on various committees of United Way of Delaware, the Greater Kent Committee and Delawareans for Environmental and Economic Development (DEED). [caption id="attachment_212631" align="alignleft" width="159"] Lauren Russell[/caption] Russell specializes in the representation of employers on a range of issues relating to compliance with local, state, and federal labor and employment laws and constitutional provisions. She provides compassionate and responsive counsel, targeted at achieving client goals while minimizing cost and risk. Russell has developed and conducts specialized in-house training for emerging legal issues including pregnancy, reproductive rights, and family care provisions of the Delaware Discrimination in Employment Act. She has experience in each of Delaware’s state and federal courts, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. [caption id="attachment_212635" align="alignright" width="159"] Vince Stutts[/caption] Stutts is the global director for Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) at DuPont. He leads the staff function comprised of the corporate EHS Center of Excellence and regional centers of competency which provide strategic and technical support to company locations globally. During his 22-year-plus career with DuPont, Stutts has held a variety of leadership roles in operations, maintenance, supply chain and engineering. A mechanical engineer by training, he worked for NASA as a rocket propulsion engineer prior to joining DuPont.

M&T Bank Corporation announced it has named Maya Dillon as head of corporate communications, a newly-created role. The move comes as part of the bank's recent strategic realignment of its internal, external and brand communications functions aimed at streamlining the organization and enhancing how it shares the M&T and Wilmington Trust story in support of its customers and other stakeholders. Dillon will lead external communications and report to chief marketing and communications officer Francesco Lagutaine. "Since joining the M&T and Wilmington Trust family in 2018, Maya has been a tremendous addition. We are thrilled to have her expand her role to lead our external communications efforts enterprise wide," said Lagutaine. "Her expertise, keen insight and vision will help us continue to elevate our brand's vital importance to our customers and move the institution forward in its mission to make a difference in people's lives and in the communities where we live and work." Dillon led the communications for the recent announcement of the Bank's agreement to acquire People's United Bank, in a deal worth $7 billion. Once completed, the merger will create the 11^th largest commercial bank in the U.S. with approximately $200 billion in assets, operating in 12 states plus Washington D.C. throughout the Northeast.

Solutions IPEM expands civil engineering department with the addition of two new team members at it’s Georgetown headquarters. The current wave of projects in the Delmarva region has created the opportunity to expand their workforce. [caption id="attachment_212628" align="aligncenter" width="460"] Adam Weissend & Edwin Tucci[/caption] Adam Weissend is a recent graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Civil Engineering and joins the firm as an Engineering Designer. Adam has had a passion for design and building since he was younger and is looking forward to seeing the positive impacts of projects he works on in their communities. Edwin Tucci is a recent graduate of Widener University with a degree in Civil Engineering and National Honor Society scholar also joins the firm as an Engineering Designer.  Edwin remembers being fascinated with watching the construction of buildings, houses, bridges, and street paving projects which led him to choose civil engineering as a career path.

Davis, Bowen & Friedel, Inc. (DBF) has announced that Andrew Scrutchfield recently passed the Principles and Practice of Engineering exam and is now officially a licensed engineer in the State of Delaware. [caption id="attachment_212627" align="alignright" width="291"] Andrew Scrutchfield[/caption] With over five years of coastal engineering experience, Scrutchfield became eligible to sit for the Civil Engineering Exam and was able to take the exam in April 2021. Scrutchfield joined the firm in 2020 after relocating back to the Eastern Shore. He has since been working in the coastal engineering department from DBF’s Easton, Maryland office. Andrew has taken on vital roles on several of DBF’s ongoing coastal projects including, the site planning for living shoreline mitigation, stone groin rehabilitation, bulkhead replacement, and floating dock installation for a private client. Other notable projects he has worked on in the community include Goldsborough Neck Road Improvements in Talbot County, Maryland, as well as Ober Community Park in Caroline County, Maryland. “Andrew is inherently passionate about preserving the infrastructure of our coastlines and is dedicated to making a difference in the coastal communities that he was born and raised around.
