Belacam.com, a standalone photo-sharing site that aims to monetize likes on social media, will begin beta testing tomorrow in anticipation of a summer launch.
The testing will crowd-source feedback before converting the site to an app. Beta testers will be able to create accounts, follow users, post pictures and GIFs, and give and receive small amounts of money from each other through likes.
If one user likes another's photo, he automatically gives that user a few cents from his account. That user can withdraw the money or use it to like another user's posts. After receiving early feedback from testing, the company will introduce additional features over the new few months, including customizable sidebars and ads that pay users to interact with them. Advertisers will be able to get responses to surveys, collect email addresses, and deliver other interactive content.

Belacam plans to target one generation in particular: The company's research shows that people born after 1995 are more creative, prefer images over text, and respond better to financial incentives.
