In 2017, Delmarva Power purchased $83 million in goods and services from diversity-certified suppliers. That's $31 million more than the year prior and 23 percent of the energy company's total annual purchases.
Delmarva Power has increased spending with women- and minority-owned businesses by 200 percent since 2011.
“We are very proud of our commitment to diversity and inclusion,” said Dave Velazquez, president
and CEO, Pepco Holdings, owner of Delmarva Power. “Year in and year out, we partner with
local and diversity-certified businesses owned by women, veterans, service-disabled veterans, and
minorities because when we do, their wide range of perspectives, experiences and expertise helps
make our company and our employees better at meeting the needs of our customers.”
Last year marked the beginning of Delmarva Power's "Target 25" initiative. The outreach effort allows under-represented vendors to learn more about Delmarva Power's procurement process.
