Created through a merger between Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware and Pittsburgh-based Highmark, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware is the state’s largest health insurance provider that serves roughly half a million members. President Nick Moriello oversees strategic activities for the organization, leaning on his previous experience of growing an independent agency, Health Insurance Associates. Over the years, Highmark solidified its commitment to Delaware by offering $22 million in grants through the BluePrints for the Community program. In 2021, Moriello also led an effort to create a joint venture agreement with ChristianaCare to deliver new models of care.
