Favorite thing about Delaware? “My favorite thing about Delaware is that there’s only one degree of separation from our elected officials. You might see the governor when you’re at the store.”

The nonprofit was originally founded in 1969 by Puerto Rican migrants aiming to address the needs of their community while adapting to life in a new country. Since then, it’s grown to include nearly 50 programs with a budget of over $5 million. In 2024, Gov. John Carney presented Matos with an Order of the First State for her work.
