As a subsidiary of Independent NewsMedia Network of Delmarva, the Daily State News  has served the First State for more than six decades. It was the first daily newspaper published out of Dover, and today publishes thousands of copies five days a week. Konrad LaPrade was named publisher in early 2023, after his father Darel LaPrade retired from the job. Konrad LaPrade has extensive experience in print advertising, with media advertising in markets of all sizes, including Dover, Salisbury, Easton, Baltimore and Philadelphia, as well as Charlotte, N.C., and Albany, N.Y. After five years at the helm, LaPrade left the First State at the end of 2024 and became President and CEO of Fort Wayne Newspapers and KPC Media in Indiana.

Received the award in 2024 and 2025.
