What was your first job? “I took a job out of graduate school with Metropolitan Life Insurance company in their New York office and had some fantastic exposure to the bigger picture of real estate ownership and investment. This opportunity paved the way for me to open my own company and gave me the confidence that I could be successful.”
Jeffrey Lang founded Lang Development Group in 2001, and has since grown the small firm to one of the most prolific developers in the Newark area. It focuses on mixed-use projects that provide quality housing for college students along with building a thriving retail community in downtown Newark, completing more than 40 projects with more than 425 units and 500,000 square feet of commercial space. This year, Lang also finished the firm’s first hotel, the Hyatt Place on Main Street, and began work on its first sports facility, Castle Sports. Outside development, Lang supports children and families in the Newark community through the Lang Cares Foundation.
