What was your first job? “My first job was delivering a new candy (Starburst) that hit the market. This was when you used to get trials and samples delivered at your house. We delivered Starburst to the doors of residents all over New Castle County.”
As the head of Goodwill Industries of Delaware and Delaware County, Pa., Colleen Morrone oversees a nonprofit with a nearly $60 million operating budget with over 1,000 employees, 20 donation collection sites, 16 retail stores, three job resource centers and an outlet and recycling center. The organization also provides temporary employment and janitorial services, with more than 3,750 people participating in training and development opportunities in 2022 alone. Morrone also spearheads the organization’s recycling and sustainability initiatives by collaborating with academia, state agencies and neighboring Goodwills to create cleaner, greener communities.
