Sussex County’s Alex Pires is not only a well-established lawyer, but has also spent decades building and growing local businesses. He oversees activities as president of Highway One Companies, an entertainment brand he founded 35 years ago that now includes a dozen entities highlighted by Dewey Beach’s Bottle & Cork and Rusty Rudder; oversees operations as CEO and chairman of Community Bank Delaware, which now boasts $350 million in assets; and co-operates Pires Cooley, a boutique law firm focusing on civil rights that he founded alongside his wife, Diane Cooley, in 2003.
