Make 2019 the Year your Company hosts a Blood Drive

Steve Masterson
co-owner of Waste Masters Solutions

As the year 2018draws to a close, BBD can celebrate the addition of more than 50 new blood drive partnerships with businesses and organizations that have committed to help maintain the community’s blood supply.

Among them are Waste Masters Solutions in New Castle, Del., where BBD Account Manager Mary Moore worked with Business Solutions Manager Justin Masterson to hold the inaugural Waste Masters blood drive. Masterson was excited to start a relationship with BBD and pledged to sponsor at least two blood drives a year – in autumn and spring.

It’s vital for Waste Masters Solutions to remain grounded and involved in the local community, Masterson said.

“Keeping us grounded as a booming company in our community is very important to us at WMS,” Masterson said. “Also, it shows commitment to the mission and, hopefully, it will draw some other companies to join the cause and help out.”

The seed for the Waste Masters Solutions Blood Drive held in October was planted when Masterson donated at the Blood Bank of Delmarva’s Christiana, Del., Donor Center. Masterson was inspired to donate by his wife, Danielle, a registered nurse at Christiana Hospital, and his sister-in-law, Rachel, a respiratorytherapist at Nemours/Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children. Both see the constant need for blood.

Masterson expressed interest in hosting a blood drive at his company during his double red cell blood donations, and the rest is history.
