As a contract research organization (CRO), Adesis does a world of good every day. Whether it’s something as big as helping to cure some of the world’s worst diseases or as ordinary as providing the color on the screens of your TV or smartphone, we partner with clients as a trusted extension of their R&D teams and solve complex problems quickly and safely. And with a chemist leading the company, you know we understand the industry.

As 2021 comes to a close, it’s a perfect time for us to reflect on the past year and our ongoing commitment to build a better 2022 for our team members, customers and Delaware as a whole.

Additions to the Adesis Team

We grew in 2021! Linda Choi MacDonald joined the Adesis team as our new chief operating officer. With extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry, MacDonald brings the skills and agility to help Adesis grow and better serve our current and future clients. We also added Louise Tramonte to the team as executive director and head of commercial. Building the Adesis infrastructure to support the massive expansion of our commercial capabilities is one of Tramonte’s key responsibilities. We also welcomed David Baran, who as director of manufacturing is responsible for guiding the development of the company’s manufacturing capacity, and more than 20 new chemists who also joined the team in 2020-21.

Recognition and Achievements

Among the accolades Adesis received this year, The Delaware Prosperity Partnership (DPP) honored Adesis for being a major contributor to the Delaware economy; our founder, Andrew Cottone, is a proud member of the DPP’s Life Sciences Task Force whose mission is to help recruit more life sciences business to the First State and support those already located here. And the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce named Adesis a Superstar in Business. These were both tremendous recognitions, not just of the excellent work our scientists perform on behalf of our clients and our contributions to Delaware’s economy but also of our focus on workforce development. We couldn’t have done it without our amazing team who have demonstrated the highest level of commitment and dedication to the Adesis mission during two challenging pandemic years.

Adesis also earned ISO9000 certification, verifying that we meet the highest standards of quality management in both our processes and management, are customer-focused and highly committed to delivering consistent and high-quality products.

Next in 2022

The move of our growing discovery chemistry team into a 30,000-square-foot space at the DuPont Experimental Station will allow us to serve our clients even better. The new space includes 17 chemistry labs, a large analytical lab and one for sublimation and purification. We are also expanding our manufacturing capacity.

As part of Cottone’s dedication to encouraging new generations of scientists through science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education, we began the soft launch of the Blombos Project, a STEM-based play system designed to help children as young as five understand the basics of chemistry. The Blombos kits will be available for free to schools and parents throughout Delaware starting in 2022.

The best chemists in the world in one place – that’s us. With a winning combination of location, state-of-the-art laboratories and responsive project team, Adesis is the trusted choice for biotech and pharma.
