Year Up Wilmington will celebrate its second graduating class next week at The Queen Theater in downtown Wilmington.
The program serves a group it calls “Opportunity Youth,” which includes urban young adults who lack access to traditional opportunities.
Year Up is a yearlong workforce development program for adults ages 18-24. The program begins with six months of targeted technical and professional skills training followed by a six-month internship at a major company such as JPMorgan Chase, BNY Mellon and CSCGlobal
Graduate Shahrzad Mohamed said “thanks to the support of this program and the unwavering belief they had in me, I have just accepted a role at Wells Fargo in the San Francisco Bay Area. Up until two years ago when I moved to the area, I had never been anywhere besides New York. And in two weeks’ time, I am moving across the country by myself to take the next step in my career.”
The celebration will be held Tuesday, July 24 at 6:00 p.m. in The Queen Theater on 500 N Market Street.
