Women entrepreneurs to battle for $25,000 prize

Women innovators will compete in the second Great Dames Remarkable Ideas Competition, hoping to secure $25,000 in seed money and services.

Last year, 41 women from seven states competed, and a Delaware woman was selected.

This year’s theme is health and wellness. The contest is split into three events: DEDO Director Bernice Whaley will help initiate the ideation session on March 14, and then five selected candidates will pitch their ideas on April 11. Health & Social Services Secretary Rita Landgraf will announce the winner on May 9. All three events will be held at Pizza by Elizabeths in Greenville.

“We’re trying to be a catalyst for women entrepreneurs to come together to collaborate and create new offerings and businesses from their innovations,” says Great Dames CEO Sharon Kelly Hake. “We’re also providing a platform for women to articulate their big ideas.”
