A new study by SmartAsset, a financial consulting company, has identified Wilmington as the seventh best city for working in retirement based on a combination lifestyle and economic factors.
For one, Wilmington has an effective retirement tax rate of 9.4 percent, the second lowest in the study. It also has the eighth-highest rate of medical centers per 1,000 residents and third-highest rate of recreation centers.
The study looked a total of 389 cities across the country.
