The City of Wilmington last week launched an interactive, online crime mapping tool designed to improve public safety and citizen engagement.

The mapping tool will supplement Wilmington’s Compstat program, which recently began making information available to the public. Citizens will have direct access to the new tool.

TriTech Software Systems developed the tool for law enforcement agencies, but the Wilmington Police Department is paying a nominal fee to enable the tool for public use.

Data regularly uploaded from police records will populate the mapping tool. Users have the option to get notifications when the map is updated.
