Liquid Alchemy Beverages, a Wilmington-based mead and cider producer, swept the Mead Free or Die competition in New Hampshire this month.
The specialty alcohol producer, which also operates a tasting room off of Maryland Avenue, took home five awards, including “Meadery of the Year.”
“We are excited and grateful to have won Meadery of the Year in addition to our other medals,” said Terri Sorantino and Jeff Cheskin, owners of LAB. “Mead Free or Die is an important competition in our industry and we’re thrilled to come out on top.”
Liquid Alchemy Beverages won four medals for their mead flavors:
Gold Medal:
- Thai-Grr
Silver Medal:
- Ground & Tapped
- Red-Cowabunga
- Franken-Cyser
The Brimming Horn Meadery in Milton took home awards for four of its flavors, including a gold medal for Cytherea (Specialty Mead), a bronze for Golden Tears (Traditional Dry), a bronze for Wolf Woods (Herb and Spice), and a bronze for Friendship of Dwarves (Black Raspberry).
Mead Free or Die is open to both professionals and amateurs and offers 38 total awards.
