William Austin, owner, Austin Signs, Wyoming
Favorite book: “Federal Reserve Bank Collusion,” by Nomi Prins. Realize that tightening the money supply can ruin an economy and very few perceive its pernicious effect.
Business podcast: Peter Schiff’s banking podcasts
Behavior change: Going on a ketogenic diet to live longer in health, plus detoxing and learning about the Rockefeller family prior to their arriving in North America.
Peter Osborne – editor, Delaware Business Times, Wilmington
Books: “Break the Wheel,” by Jay Acunzo. It’s a terrific book that tries to move you from best practices to asking yourself six “simple” questions that help you figure out what will work best for you and your company. I’ve been reading other books but this is the one that has resonated the most in recent months.
Podcasts: As we approach baseball season, I’m listening to a couple of fantasy-based podcasts. But recently I’ve become a huge fan of Recode Decode and Pivot (both with Kara Swisher) and Unthinkable (with Jay Acunzo), which have joined Building a Story Brand with Donald Miller, The Marketing Book Podcast with Douglas Burdett, and The West Wing Weekly (I’ve been binge-watching the series with my daughter).
Joseph Schulcz – director of finance for the Town of Elsmere
Favorite book: I have not read a business book or biography in 2018. I spend my reading time reviewing the Government Accounting Board’s pronouncements. These have a direct impact on my job.
Behavior change: Dealing with non-accountants in a way that they can clearly get the picture I am painting.
Steve Blewitt – IFS Benefits, Newark
Favorite book: “Shoe Dog: A Memoir by the Creator of Nike,” by Phil Knight.
Business podcast: Origins
Behavior change: Delete emails sooner.
James Hampton – owner of Hampton Associates and Enterprises
Business podcast: Info meeting at the SBA
Behavior change: Read more and attend sessions to gain insights for my business.
Lakeem McAllister – office manager at Jim Walsh State Farm Wilmington
Business podcast: biggerpockets.com
Behavior change: More discipline
