UD hires 3M exec for marketing v.p.

Glenn Carter, global marketing communications leader for the 3M Company in St. Paul, Minnesota, was named vice president for communications and marketing at the University of Delaware yesterday.

His appointment is effective Sept. 6. He replaces Deborah L. Hayes, who followed former UD President Patrick T. Harker to the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia in January, after Harker was appointed CEO of the Philadelphia Fed.  Hayes is senor vice president for corporate affairs at the Fed.

“Glenn Carter has an impressive combination of marketing and communications experience, as well as a strong record of building brand awareness with key audiences on a global level,” UD President Dennis Assanis said. “I have great confidence in Glenn’s abilities to bring new perspectives and fresh insights as he and the university communications team work to share the accomplishments of this university and its people with the world.

Carter has worked at 3M since 2001, and has wored as global marketing communications leader for the company’s global design department since 2014, with responsibility for brand awareness and promoting the company’s reputation for design and innovation.
