Trade group says Delaware lost 280 tech jobs in 2017

CompTIA, a non-profit trade association for the information technology industry, has released a report showing a slight dip in Delaware technology jobs.

The group’s annual CyberState report, which tracks technology employment by state, found that Delaware lost 280 tech jobs in 2017. The drop continues a two-year decline totaling 550 lost jobs.

Net tech employment totals 31,900. Tech jobs make up 6.6 percent of overall workforce. And there are 2,679 tech establishments in the state.

Delaware firms posted 14,790 tech occupation jobs in 2017.

The state ranks 43rd in net tech employment, 47th in net jobs added and 29th in innovation.

Leading occupations in the sector include software and web developers, computer system and information security analysts, and network architects, administrators, and support specialists.
