Ursuline Academy is holding its first TEDxYouth this Sunday, May 20. The theme of the inaugural event is “Pioneers and Poets” and will feature 18 speakers.
“Today, young people are growing up in a world where the definitions of who we are, where we live and how we get things done seem to adjust and expand every day,” said Rhianon Husmann, the TEDx organizer and marketing professional who is running TEDxYouth@UrsulineAcademy.
Husmann said the talks will highlight social issues as well as the line between those who explore the world (pioneers) and those who take what they see and turn it into art (poets).
“It’s an exciting time, but can also be a confusing one,” she said. “This is an incredible opportunity for us to collectively ask ourselves where we are today and where we want to be tomorrow. Wilmington is a prism of possibility – a creative community where people intersect and a radiant vision of opportunity is unlocked.”
The line-up of speakers features students, faculty and staff from eight different area schools, including: Ursuline Academy, A.I. duPont High School, Concord High School, Appoquinimink High School, William Penn High School, The Circle School, St. Elizabeth’s High School and Charter School of Wilmington.
