Sweeney’s Bakery in North Wilmington set to close after 60 years in business

Share

Sweeney’s Bakery, which has been a beloved part of the North Wilmington community since 1957, recently announced that it will be closing up shop in June. James C. Sweeney Jr. and Margaret Sweeney originally founded the bakery, now owned by their son, James C. Sweeney III.

“It has been an honor to be part of the North Wilmington community for 60 years,” Sweeney wrote in the Facebook message earlier this month. “Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

The bakery is located in Wilmington’s F and N Shop Village Shopping Center. Sweeney has not yet announced the bakery’s official last day in June.
