Sussex County plans ‘homebuyer fair’
The second annual Sussex County Homebuyer Fair is scheduled Sept. 26, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., inside the Carter Partnership Center on the Georgetown campus of Delaware Technical & Community College. Attendees will receive a free copy of their credit report sand be able to meet one-on-one with qualified housing counselors.
The event will feature dozens of home sales vendors.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for prospective new homeowners to gather much needed information as they work toward buying a home in Sussex County. But it’s also a great chance for us as an organization to get out in front of the public and let them know who we are and what we do here in southern Delaware,” said Fred Dean, president of the Sussex County Association of Realtors. “The essence of this event really exemplifies many of our goals and our mission as a real estate trade association here in the First State.”
The event is designed to provide attendees with needed information on the home buying process in Sussex County, including financial planning tools, useful programs and products, how to locate and work with a qualified agent and how to work with settlement attorneys and inspectors.
“As the voice for real estate in Sussex County, we feel this public event is a great opportunity for us to showcase, along with our partners, the advocacy efforts we undertake on a daily basis to promote homeownership in our area,” Dean said. “And we’re extremely thankful to our colleagues in county government for joining with us on this endeavor. This is great information getting in the hands of the people who need it most, in a one stop shopping kind of environment.”
The 2015 Sussex County Homebuyer Fair is jointly sponsored by Sussex County Government, the Sussex County Association of Realtors and several local housing agencies, including the Delaware State Housing Authority, First State Community Action Agency and NCALL Research, Inc.
