Sussex County Democrats set date for pre-election Jamboree

The Sussex County Democratic Party is hosting its traditional kickoff to the next election cycle with their jamboree on Saturday, Aug. 29 beginning at 2 p.m. at Cape Henlopen State Park.

The jamboree, nearing its 50th anniversary, originally was held on Lewes beach, but, it was moved to the main pavilion at Cape Henlopen in the early 1970’s by then Sen. Joe Biden’s suggestion.

The odd-year jamboree kicks off of the 2016 elections – for president, Congress, governor, lieutenant governor, and insurance commissioner.

“This is the time to meet the core of the party, network with committee members and become energized to launch the 2016 election season,” Mitch Crane, Sussex County Democratic chair said. “This family-friendly event is open to all Democrats locally andstatewide. “
