Subway turnstile inventor subject of talk

A March 16 Hagley Author Talk will focus on John Vassos, a pioneer of the industrial design profession who designed radios, computers, televisions and the turnstiles used at subway stations.
John Vassos, a Greek emigre who became one of the most influential industrial designers of the 20th Century, is the subject of a recent book, Industrial Design for Modern Life: John Vassos and RCA.
The book’s author Danielle Shapiro, will discuss Vassos and discuss how she used Hagley’s records to research his story. She drew upon trade catalogs and materials from the David Sarnoff Collection.
