Storms affect Beazer sales but not earnings

Beazer Homes USA, with operations in Delaware, closed its sales centers and construction sites in the paths of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma last week, but the company expects its earnings before taxes to increase for the fourth quarter despite lower home sales.

“The storm-related impacts on new home sales and closings are the result of temporary conditions and do not diminish our confidence in substantial profitability gains in Fiscal 2018,” CEO Allan Merrill said. “In responding to severe weather, our highest priority is to ensure the safety of our employees, their families, our partners and our customers.”

Beazer reported only four homes in Harvey’s path and fewer than 10 in Irma’s path sustained damage.
