State unemployment rate unchanged

Delaware’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stayed a 4.7 percent in June. There were 22,400 unemployed residents in June, 1,700 more than last June.

The seasonally adjusted nonfarm employment was 454,800. That’s down from 456,000 in May. Nonfarm jobs showed a net gain of 46,000 job since last June. That’s a one percent rise, compared with a 1.5 rise nationally.

In Delaware, manufacturing jobs showed no year-over-year rise. Construction jobs rose 1.2 percent. Retail trade jobs slipped 0.2 percent and wholesale trade slipped 0.1 percent. Financial jobs rose 0.6 percent.

Professional and business-service slipped 0.2 percent, while education rose 1.9 percent, leisure and hospitality rose 1.8 percent, federal government jobs rose 0.2 percent and local government jobs rose 0.5 percent. State government jobs slipped 0.6 percent .
