The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) issued a $150,000 fine last week to the Delaware City Refining Company and parent company PBF Energy for violating an arrangement with the agency limiting where the facility can ship crude oil.
The company agreed in 2013 that it would only ship to its Paulsboro, N.J. facility in exchange for an air permit.
An investigation by DNREC revealed that the company made 17 barge shipment of crude oil to three other locations throughout 2014.
The Delaware City refinery failed to properly report these shipments.
