Eight Delaware companies or nonprofits will receive Superstars in Business Awards of Awards of Excellence from the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce in November.

The winners of the Marvin S. Gilman Superstars in Business Awards are recognized for outstanding achievements and model approaches to business and management.

The awards, named for one of Delaware’s leading small business entrepreneurs, are presented to small businesses that have been in business for at least three years and are members of the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce.

The winners are:

  • Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay, which serves nearly 10,000 girls and 4,000 adults on the Delmarva Peninsula. In addition to offering girls and young women personal growth and leadership experience, the Girl Scouts also coordinates girl-led community service and programs in science, technology, business, economic literacy and outdoor and environmental awareness.
  • Back to Basics Learning Dynamics, Inc. of Wilmington, founded in 1985, grew from a sole proprietorship providing one-on-one tutoring into a full-service educational company serving adults, schools, districts, corporations and government entities. It is Delaware’s only Department-of-Education- approved one-on-one private school. The company also offered translating and interpreting educational services in 16 foreign languages and sign language.
  • Bernardon, established in 1973, specializes in regional architecture, interior design and landscape architecture with offices in Wilmington and Kennett Square, Pa. The company focuses on fiscally responsible design and management services in an environmentally sustainable manner.
