SmartInvest Ventures, a venture capital firm that became active in Delaware earlier this year, announced this week that Martin Hunt has joined its leadership team.
Hunt has 25 years experience in insurance, private equity and investment banking. He has degrees from the Harvard Business School and Swarthmore College.
A Delaware resident, Hunt brings a “local spark” to the table, according to the firm. He joins partners Chuck Kerrigan, Fred Hoisaisy, and Gerry Moan.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to have Martin joining our team, as we continue to focus on mentoring, promoting and investing in startups in the local Delaware community, and around the world,” said Moan. “Not only do Martin’s experience and accomplishments speak for themselves, but he also lives our ‘do good and do well’ mantra. Chuck, Fred and I couldn’t be more pleased to welcome Martin as a key pillar in our firm.”
“Joining the SmartInvest team gives me the rare opportunity to focus both on guiding startups toward success and providing potential investors with a unique and largely de-risked investment opportunity,” Hunt said. “The fact that I can pivot my attention between the local business investment community and international startups is an incredibly energizing position.”
