The U.S. Small Business Administration today announced the addition of nine new Women’s Business Center around the country. These centers provide assistance and resources to women entrepreneurs looking to expand into new and existing markets.
Delaware hosts The Women’s Business Center at First State Community Loan Fund, which continues to serve as the state’s SBA-backed Women’s Business Center.
“This year marks 30 years of the Women’s Business Center program, and the expansion of the new centers will provide vital resources to women entrepreneurs,” Assistant Administrator for the SBA’s Office of Women’s Business Ownership Kathy McShane said. “We know that when women get help in the early stages of their company, they will be more successful. Through the new centers, we are encouraging more women to come forward and utilize the services offered by the centers.”
There are more than 100 centers nationally. In 2017, the centers helped train 150,000 women entrepreneurs.
“Delaware’s Women’s Business Center certainly is a ‘go-to’ resource for female entrepreneurs – both nascent and active – here in the First State,” said John Fleming, SBA Delaware Director. “First State Community Loan Fund’s recent addition of Sara Crawford-Jones as its Women’s Business Center Program Director marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the Center.”
