WILMINGTON (AP) — One of the state’s top prosecutors has been picked to serve as New Castle County’s next chief administrative officer.

New Castle County Executive-elect Matt Meyer’s administration announced Monday that Kathy Jennings will hold the position when Meyer takes over on Jan. 3.

Jennings has worked in the Department of Justice for 22 years and is one of the top officials under Attorney General Matt Denn. In her current role, she oversees all criminal prosecutions and supervises a staff of more than 250 people.

She previously served as Chief Deputy Attorney General, managing a $20 million budget and establishing the consumer protection division.

It is the first high-level appointment Meyer has publicly announced.
