BEAR — CalAtlantic Homes, a national homebuilder, is now selling the first phase of completed houses from Summit Bridge Estates, a master-planned development in Bear on the north side of the C&D Canal that feeds to Appoquinimink School District.

“These are the only new homes for sale north of the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal, offering children the opportunity to attend the Appoquinimink School District and significantly shortening commuter drive times to Wilmington and Philadelphia โ€“ yet in a setting that feels far removed from the city,” said Chris Gillen, the companyโ€™s Philadelphia Division president.

Summit Bridge Estates offers five single-family home designs ranging from 2,300 to 3,500 square feet, with three to four bedrooms and two-and-a-half to four-and-a-half baths. Some floor plans can be expanded to 4,305 square feet with a completed English basement with rear-facing windows.

Starting at the $390,000s, the home exteriors are craftsman or traditional style. The Summit Bridge community is a 160-acre, 148-homesite development that will also include high-end townhomes and twin homes surrounded by 58 acres of private and state conservation land.
