Anas Ben Addi, director of the Delaware State Housing Authority (DSHA), is leaving to become the chief financial officer of Delaware State University.
“It has been an honor and privilege to serve the citizens of Delaware as Director of DSHA for the last 12 years, and I am incredibly proud of the work our dedicated team at DSHA has accomplished during my tenure,” said Director Ben Addi. “I’m excited to take on this new challenge as Chief Financial Officer with Delaware State University and look forward to helping advance the mission of the university as a center for teaching, research and public service.”
During his time with the DSHA, Ben Addi broadened the agency’s community development work, overseeing the Strong Neighborhoods Housing Fund to assist blighted neighborhoods statewide after the foreclosure crisis. He also oversaw the creation of the Downtown Development Districts program, which incentivizes investments in downtown areas statewide.
“Anas Ben Addi is an exceptionally talented public servant,” said Tony Allen, president of Delaware State University. “He has used his vast experience in housing finance and planning and community development to transform the lives of the tens of thousands of Delawareans. He was not simply a cabinet secretary for two Governors. Anas is a solutions-driven leader who thinks holistically about culture, community, and people. I could not be more pleased to have him join our leadership team as the University’s Chief Financial Officer and am looking forward to working with him for years to come.”
Eugene Young, Jr., currently the president and CEO of the Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League (MWUL), has been nominated as the next Director of the Delaware State Housing Authority (DSHA) following the announcement that current DSHA director Anas Ben Addi is leaving to become chief financial officer at Delaware State University.
“I know Eugene well and I know he’s committed to strengthening the City of Wilmington and communities across Delaware, which is at the core of DSHA’s mission,” said Gov. Carney. “He is the ideal candidate to take on this position and I’m confident he will build on progress to make affordable, safe housing accessible for all Delawareans. I also want to thank Director Ben Addi, who led DSHA through the foreclosure crisis in 2009 and has broadened the agency’s mission to include community and economic development efforts statewide. His leadership will be missed, and we wish him well at DSU.”
Young has served as president and CEO of the Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League since 2017. He also founded the grassroots organizing nonprofit Network Delaware, served as an aide in the Delaware General Assembly, and also as an aide to former Mayor and current U.S. Senator Cory Booker.
Jack Temple has been promoted to director of operations for SoDel Concepts. Temple was previously the general manager of Bluecoast Seafood Grill + Raw Bar in Rehoboth Beach, and he’s also been the general manager of Matt’s Fish Camp in Lewes. Temple worked closely with Kammerer and Matt Patton on the opening of Matt’s Fish Camp. In his new position, Temple will oversee Fish On in Lewes, Matt’s Fish Camp and The Clubhouse at Baywood in Millsboro, a restaurant and event venue.
Jennifer Boes has been appointed as the new executive director of the Greater Wilmington Convention and Visitors Bureau. Boes is currently the director of marketing communications and media relations for the Bureau, a position she has held since January 2020. She has more than 25 years of experience in tourism marketing and public relations. Current executive director Sarah Ridgway Willoughby will be retiring from her position at the end of June 2021.
The Better Business Bureau of Delaware has announced the addition of four new board members. The new members are: Dana Blakeman, director of Consumer Experience at Discover; Jennifer Goet, president of Worldwide Incorporators LTD; Glenn Outten, senior vice president of WSFS Bank’s Commercial Department; and Jeremy Rodriguez, owner of Ascent Creative Group and Accurate Tint and Graphics. The BBB Board of Directors determines BBB policies and performance as governed by the bylaws, and are also responsible for approval or revocation of BBB Accredited Businesses.
Potter Anderson & Corroon announced the appointment of partner L. Katherine Good as the head of the firm’s bankruptcy practice. Good joined the firm in 2019 and has been recognized by several publications, including Chambers USA, for her exemplary work handling domestic and cross-border bankruptcies. She regularly litigates in bankruptcy court as well as in appeals before federal district courts and courts of appeals. She has also represented companies in successful out of court restructurings and pre-packaged and pre-arranged bankruptcy cases.
Rick Monnig, founder of TechSolutions, Inc., has been selected to serve on the inaugural MSP Champions Council of the CompTIA Information Sharing and Analysis Organization (ISAO).
“The CompTIA ISAO is the only cybersecurity information sharing and analysis organization built to address the unique needs and requirements of MSPs, managed security services providers, technology solution providers, vendors, distributors and consultants who are the SMB backbone of the global economy,” said MJ Shoer, senior vice president and executive director of the CompTIA ISAO.
The 15 members of the MSP Champions Council provide expertise, insight and thought leadership to guide the CompTIA ISAO as it works to help MSPs improve their cybersecurity resilience and that of their customers. This effort is a critical part of the CompTIA ISAO’s broader mission.
