Deanna M. Mulligan was elected to DuPont’s Board of Directors on April 28, 2021.

Mulligan served as CEO of The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, a mutual life insurance company (Guardian), from 2011 to October 2020. She served as a member of Guardian’s Board of Directors from 2011 to 2020, serving as Board Chair for the last quarter of 2020 until her retirement. Prior to joining Guardian in 2008, she founded DMM Management Solutions LLC and previously, she held several other consulting and management positions at McKinsey & Company, AXA Financial, Inc., and New York Life Insurance Company.
Mulligan currently serves as a director of The Vanguard Group, Inc., Trustee of the Vanguard Funds, Trustee of the Economic Club of New York, Trustee of New York Presbyterian Hospital, Director of Chief Executives for Corporate Purpose, Director of Partnership for New York City and Trustee of the Bruce Museum.
WSFS Bank announced that Shari Kruzinski has been named executive vice president, director of retail delivery. In her new role, she will continue to oversee the Bank’s retail network, contact center, and retail operations.
Kruzinski started in 1989 at WSFS as a floating teller. She moved up the ranks and most recently has overseen six banking regions, 89 banking offices, more than 700 Associates and a contact center. She was instrumental in developing and executing key retail banking initiatives during the pandemic, helping to keep Associates safe while also providing essential banking services to Customers.
Kruzinski was integral in the integrations of Penn Liberty Bank, Alliance Bank, First National Bank of Wyoming, and Beneficial Bank into WSFS Bank and is one of the executives leading the Bryn Mawr Trust Company and WSFS combination announced in March.
President Joe Biden has nominated University of Delaware professor Lynnette Young Overby, Ph.D. to the National Council on the Humanities. Overby is a professor of theater and dance at the University of Delaware, deputy director of the Community Engagement Initiative, director of the Partnership for Arts & Culture, and artistic director of the Sharing Our Legacy Dance Theatre.
Overby works at the University of Delaware and with several local, national and international organizations developing community engagement programs and projects designed to address racial justice issues. For example, as scholarship chair of the Engaged Scholarship Consortium, and as director of the Partnership for Arts & Culture, Overby administers social justice grant programs for faculty and community partners. Over the years, thousands of community partners have benefited from the work of these projects.
She is the author or coauthor of over 60 publications, including 14 edited, co-authored and authored books. Her contributions have earned her more than 20 state, district, and national awards and honors, including the 2018 Lifetime achievement award for the National Dance Education Organization. Overby has served as an officer/board member in several national and international organizations, including The National Dance Association and Dance and the Child International. She is currently collaborating with literary historian P. Gabrielle Foreman on “Performing History” research. Her most recent production, “Mary Ann Shadd Cary, Her life and Legacy” has taken place in Delaware, Texas, Alabama, Virginia, Washington, DC., Australia, South Africa and Belize. Through arts and community engagement collaborations, Overby has facilitated projects focused on increasing empathy and knowledge in communities.
Dana Hanchin, president and CEO of HDC MidAtlantic, earned the “2021 Emerging Leader Award” from the National NeighborWorks Association, a network of nearly 250 nonprofit organizations across the country which serves diverse populations to expand and benefit the community development field. The award is annually presented to an outstanding leader in the field of housing and community development and recognizes an executive director “whose energy and innovation has improved the value of her or his NeighborWorks organization and the network.”
Smith Purdum II P.E., David Botscheller AIA and Brice Reid AIA of Becker Morgan Group have earned their professional licenses.
Purdum has earned the designation of professional engineer, allowing him to take a larger role in the firm’s civil engineering projects. Purdum joined Becker Morgan Group as a civil engineering designer and has contributed to a variety of projects across Maryland and Delaware.
Botscheller joined Becker Morgan in 2014 and has primarily worked in the firm’s hospitality and residential studios.
Reid joined in 2015, working primarily in health care, working closely with TidalHealth on a variety of projects.
Anthony Stagliano Jr., Merella Merulla and Elaine Leies have joined the Hotel du Pont’s executive leadership.
Stagliano has joined as director of sales and has over 25 years of sales experience. He joins the hotel from the Ritz Carlton Philadelphia where he was most recently director of group, catering and transient sales.
Merulla has been named director of group sales and will be responsible for developing and executing a strategic sales plan to leverage the built-up demand as the Delaware courts reopen.
Leies will be the hotel’s business development manager and will focus on identifying new business opportunities from outside the greater Wilmington market.
Jim Johnson, Jr. has joined Duffield Associates in its Coastal Services Practice. Johnson has over 40 years of experience in the public and private sector infrastructure market and will continue his unwavering commitment to providing creative, sustainable solutions for our clients. He previously served as the chief engineer of the Delaware Department of Transportation and executive director of the Delaware River and Bay Authority.
At Duffield, Johnson will lead business development and project execution efforts specifically related to Duffield’s growing regional Coastal Services Practice along with its partner companies in the NECS platform. The NECS platform currently includes Ohio-based Hull and Associates, LLC and Florida-based HSW Consulting, both leading environmental, energy, water and civil infrastructure firms.
Lynne Coan has joined the city of Rehoboth Beach as a communications specialist. In her new role with the city, Coan will develop a regular communications channel with residents and businesses while enhancing the city’s presence on social media platforms.
City Manager Sharon Lynn recently received the credentialed manager designation from the International City/County Management Association. Lynn has been with Rehoboth since 2014 and was named City Manager of the Year by the Delaware League of Local Governments in 2018.
Bear Trap Dunes has promoted Eric Mason as the club’s head golf professional and Jonathan Tupper as executive chef.
Mason started as an assistant golf professional at Bear Trap Dunes in April 2016 and was elected to PGA Membership, as a Class A Member, in May 2019.
Tupper has been a sous chef at The Den at Bear Trap Dunes since March 2019, and has produced numerous sold-out events at the venue.
