Rebecca Acevedo has joined WSFS Bank, the primary subsidiary of WSFS Financial Corp., as director of corporate communications. Most recently, Acevedo managed B2B Communications for Early Warning Services, the owner and operator of the Zelle Network. Prior to that, she led communications for digital banking and Chase Card Services for J.P. Morgan Chase. She also spent nearly 11 years building and overseeing external communications for TD Bank in the United States.
Jarrett W. Horowitz has joined Connolly Gallagher in the firm’s Delaware Business, Commercial and Corporate Litigation and Intellectual Property Litigation groups. Prior to joining the firm, Jarrett was a litigation associate at Morris Nichols Arsht & Tunnell LLP, managing complex commercial litigation matters. He also served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Philip S. Jackson, Circuit Court for Baltimore City.
Ashley Robert Altschuler has joined the Delaware Community Foundation’s board of directors. Altschuler is the managing partner of McDermott Will & Emery LLP’s Delaware office. With more than 20 years of experience in the Delaware Court of Chancery and Delaware Supreme Court, as well as other trial and appellate courts in state and federal jurisdictions across the United States, he focuses his practice on litigating corporate, securities and complex business matters.
Melissa Kenny has been named executive vice president at Delaware Supermarkets Inc., the family-owned company that operates six ShopRite supermarkets in the state. Kenny, the company’s former Director of Sales and Marketing, now has direct oversight of Operations, Finance, Human Resources, Marketing and Loss Prevention for the organization. In addition to her new role, Kenny has also taken over responsibilities as vice president of real estate at First State Plaza in Stanton, the shopping center where one of the Kenny Family ShopRites is located.
Chip Walters has been named vice president for asset management at The Buccini/Pollin Group (BPG). Chip joins BPG with more than 25 years of experience in the real estate industry, most recently at Keystone Property Group as its chief investment officer. Chip will be responsible for overseeing the existing non-hotel portfolio, including 6 million square feet of office and retail space, 15 major residential communities and multiple entertainment venues, such as Talen Energy Stadium and the 76ers Fieldhouse.
AJ Lurie has been promoted to the newly created position of director of local market integrated partnerships at Beasley XP, the new esports division for Beasley Media Group (BMG).
Lurie most recently served as the vice president and market manager of BMG’s Wilmington, radio cluster. In his new role, he will be responsible for overseeing all of Beasley Media Group’s local market esports and gaming revenues by leveraging the company’s content and local market gaming-oriented events. Lurie also serves as the chairman of the board of the State Broadcasters Association of Maryland, D.C., and Delaware. BMG Philadelphia Vice President and Market Manager Joe Bell will add the Wilmington radio cluster management duties to his current responsibilities under the new structure.
Kay Young has been named executive director of development for the Beebe Medical Foundation. Young will lead day-to-day operations at the Foundation, overseeing signature events, grant funding, partnering with service lines, and will work with the major gift team. In her previous role as senior director of advancement at Geisinger Health Foundation in Pennsylvania, Young worked closely with women’s health and population health initiatives. She most recently led the campaign for the new Childbirth Center at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton, along with a Fresh Food Farmacy program in the region.
Raeneshela Torain has joined the Courtyard By Marriott-Newark at the University of Delaware as front office manager. Raeneshela has extensive experience at the Front Desk, working for both select service and full service properties. Most recently, she served as the concierge and manager on duty at the Hotel DuPont. Prior to joining them in 2015, she worked at the Sheraton Suites in downtown Wilmington; the Crowne Plaza Wilmington North; and the Comfort Inn & Suites in Oxford, North Carolina.
Jennifer Boes has joined the Greater Wilmington Convention & Visitors Bureau as director of marketing communications and media relations. In her new position, Boes will develop marketing content, manage business-to-business social media and executive communications, and serve as the media representative for the Bureau. A travel and tourism veteran with more than 20 years of experience in marketing and public relations, Boes has worked at Marshall Communications, a Maine-based PR agency, for the last 15 years. Prior to Marshall Communications, she was the public information officer and tourism public relations director for the Delaware Economic Development Office.
Kimberly Wagner will become Head of School at Christ Church Episcopal Preschool effective July 2020. She will succeed Jo W. Harney, who is retiring after 10 years of dedicated service to CCEP. Kim started her career as a teacher and team leader at Brandywine Springs School, and went on to spend seven years as a teacher and Lower School Leader at Saint Edmonds Academy. Kim currently works in the Professional Development Center for Educators at the University of Delaware (UD) where she manages and organizes new curriculum implementation, along with coaching, professional learning design and delivery, and working with teachers and students in the classroom. Kim is working to earn an Ed.D in Educational Leadership at UD. She is in the final phase and hopes to present her doctoral defense this semester.
Bob Havens has joined Sonitrol Security of Delaware Valley in the sales department, and has assumed responsibility for revenue generation within the Delaware market. His primary focus will center on implementing top-level customer satisfaction, growing and cultivating new business and insuring that Sonitrol Security of Delaware Valley remains the number one provider of access control, verified audio/video surveillance solutions, and fire protection for the state of Delaware.
