Stephen Keiser, MBA, FHM, has joined Beebe Medical Group as Vice President of Operations. Keiser is a native Delawarean who has worked in medical group operations for the past nine years. He most recently served as Director of Operations for Primary and Specialty Care with Northwestern Medical Group, in Chicago. Keiser earned his bachelor’s degree in English and his MBA with a concentration in health care from the University of Delaware. Additionally, he has achieved the designation of Fellow in Hospital Medicine (FHM) from the Society of Hospital Medicine.
Dr. Ray A. Blackwell, MD, Chief of Cardiac Surgery and Surgical Director of the Mechanical Circulatory Support Program at Christiana Care, received a lifetime achievement award Jan. 31 at Dartmouth College, New Hampshire. Dr. Blackwell received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School’s Geisel School of Medicine.
Dr. Sandeep Khehra, DPM, has joined Beebe Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Medicine. Khehra attended the University of California at Berkeley for her undergraduate degree in Integrative Biology and then moved to Philadelphia where she earned her doctorate in podiatric medicine at Temple University. She went on to complete a three-year residency at Crozer Chester Medical Center where she discovered her passion for wound care and healing.
Dr. Daniel J. Elliott, MD, MSCE, FACP, will become governor of the Delaware chapter of the American College of Physicians on Oct. 1. As governor, Dr. Elliott will provide a link between members at the local level and leadership at the national level. Dr. Elliott is Medical Director at eBrightHealth ACO. He is certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, graduated from Jefferson Medical College, and received his post-doctoral training from Christiana Care Health System and the University of Pennsylvania.
Agriculture
Dr. Robin Morgan, the provost at the University of Delaware, was recognized at the 48th Delaware Agricultural Industry Dinner with the Secretary’s Award for Distinguished Service to Delaware Agriculture for her commitment to agriculture through education, research, and encouraging the next generation of agriculturalists. Dr. Morgan was noted as encouraging the next generation of agriculturalists. She has earned numerous awards reflecting her commitment to youth, including the Honorary American Degree awarded by the National FFA Organization.
Legal
Matt Denn has joined the litigation practice of DLA Piper as a partner in Wilmington. As Delaware’s attorney general from January 2015 to January 2019, Denn supervised more than 200 attorneys, representing all state agencies and boards, prosecuting criminal cases, and enforcing consumer protection, data privacy and other statutes. Denn will also be actively involved in the firm’s pro bono practice, focusing on the needs of at-risk children in Delaware. Denn received his law degree from Yale Law School and his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley. Before his election to attorney general, he served as Delaware’s lieutenant governor and as the state’s insurance commissioner.
Morgan Zurn and Kathaleen McCormick have become Vice Chancellors on the Delaware Court of Chancery, filling two newly created seats on the state’s 227-year-old court of equity. In 2018, the Court
of Chancery was expanded for the first time since 1989 from five to seven constitutional officers.
Prior to being nominated to the Court of Chancery, McCormick was a partner in the Delaware law firm Young Conaway Stargatt & Taylor LLP, where she focused her practice on litigating internal governance and corporate disputes, primarily in the Court of Chancery. Before entering private practice, Vice Chancellor McCormick was a staff attorney with the Community Legal Aid Society, Inc. A graduate of Notre Dame Law School, Vice Chancellor McCormick received her undergraduate degree in Philosophy from Harvard College.
Government
Lt. Michael F. Hertzfeld has been named Chief of the Delaware Capitol Police following the retirement of Chief John Horsman. Chief Hertzfeld began his police career in 1996 and joined the DCP ranks in 2009 as a sergeant and first-line supervisor. During his law enforcement career, he has served in several leadership roles including most recently as the DCP Northern Operations Commander where he implemented and oversaw a multitude of management innovations improving the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Northern Operation. Chief Hertzfeld received the State of Delaware House of Representatives Exceptional Duty Award and was previously selected as the New Castle City Police Officer of the Year.
Tidewater Utilities Vice President and General Manager Bruce Patrick and former Tidewater Utilies President Jerry Esposito have been appointed to the Delaware State Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) committee in partnership with the University of Delaware. They will serve in an advisory capacity to provide guidance to improve the security and quality of Delaware’s water resources and facilitate positive change in identifying Delaware as a model of progressive change in the water industry.
Arts & Culture
Will Fetters, a graduate of Salesianum School and the University of Delaware, has been nominated for an Academy Award for best adapted screenplay for “A Star is Born,” which he co-wrote with star and director Bradley Cooper and writer Eric Roth.
Good deeds
U.S. Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester donated a month’s salary to organizations helping Delawareans affected by the government shutdown. She donated a total of $8,000, splitting equally among the First State Community Action Agency, the Food Bank of Delaware, Catholic Charities and the Coast Guard Mission Fund.
Education
Nancy Shevock has been confirmed as the newest member of the Delaware Technical Community College board of trustees. Shevock is chairman of the board of directors for Del-One Federal Credit Union and a trustee on the State Board of Pension Trustees. She served as a special trustee for Delaware Tech’s Educational Foundation since 2011, serving on the foundation’s Investment Committee since 2013. Prior to her retirement from the state of Delaware, Shevock served as executive director of the Delaware Transit Corp. and as chief financial officer for the Capital School District. She has a bachelor’s degree and MBA from Wilmington University.
Nonprofit
Chris Neary has been named Vice President of Policy, Research, and Advocacy in the Wilmington office of Cinnaire, a nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) that provides loans, investments and development services to support community development.
Todd Veale has named the new Executive Director at The Laffey-McHugh Foundation. Veale was a senior executive at MBNA America from 1991 to 2006, serving as a Senior Executive Vice President and member of the Senior Operating Committee. Since 2006, Veale has been a business consultant and worked for several early-stage companies in the financial services industry. He received his bachelor’s degree from Boston College and his MBA from Harvard Business School.
Real estate
Brad Riedle, a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty, is the 2019 president of the 4,000-member Delaware Association of Realtors (DAR). The full slate of 2019 DAR officers include President-Elect Beau Zebley (Kent County); Vice President Christopher Lind (Sussex County); Treasurer Neil Douen (New Castle County), and National Association of Realtors Directors Gail Renulfi (New Castle County) and Bob McVey (Sussex County).
Jeffrey Kralovec has joined Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach, Realtors’s Brandywine Office as a sales associate serving North Delaware and Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Accounting

• Christina K. Bell, CPA, has been promoted to principal. She earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Wilmington University.
• Tracy M. Lyons has been promoted to Administrative Services Manager.
• Michael H. Abernathy, CPA, has been promoted to Senior Accountant. He earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Delaware.

and facility procedure development. Prior to joining Emory Hill, he served as Director of Operations at the Delaware Art Museum where he managed security, maintenance and vendor relations. AJ graduated from Wilmington University with a bachelor’s degree.
• Ryan Williams previously was a real estate manager for the Suburban Philadelphia region where he was responsible for the management and operation of more than 500,000 square feet of office properties. He has more than 11 years of commercial real estate experience and has held positions at Liberty Property Trust in Malvern, Pennsylvania, and CBRE where he managed Class A office and industrial buildings in Southeastern Pennsylvania and Delaware. Ryan is a graduate of Widener University where he earned his bachelor’s degree with a concentration in accounting.
In Memoriam
William J. Miller Jr. passed away on Jan. 22, 2019, a few weeks prior to his 102nd birthday. Mr. Miller worked for the Delaware State Highway Department in New Castle and enrolled in the evening College of Drexel University in Philadelphia. After returning from World War II, he rejoined the Highway Department and re-enrolled in Drexel Institute of Technology, receiving a degree in civil engineering. He later became the Director of Operations of the Delaware State Highway Department. In 1964, Mr. Miller became Executive Director of the Delaware River and Bay Authority. Mr. Miller was inducted into the Delaware Maritime Hall of Fame.
Henry Edgar Kressman died Jan. 21 at the age of 92. He was a retired manager of labor relations at ICI Americas Inc., where he worked from 1954-1985, and also held a variety of positions in government, industry and labor including chair of the Delaware Governor’s Labor Advisory Council; member of the Delaware Public Employment Relations Board; and Regional Manager, American Arbitration Association.
Jeremiah (Jerry) P. Shea passed away on Jan. 17 at the age of 91. Jerry started working at the Security Trust Co. as a manager in the bookkeeping department. In his 40-year career at the evolving Bank of Delaware, he rose through the ranks and eventually became the bank’s CEO and chairman of the board. He also worked at the national level, serving as trustee of the ABA’s Stonier Graduate School of Banking’s board of advisers. He is best remembered for his personal style, and regularly visiting bank branches across the state to personally interact with employees and customers. Jerry held leadership roles with the United Way of Delaware, Catholic Social Service, the Wilmington Diocese’s Catholic Appeal and the National Conference of Christians and Jews.
Albert Lee Moran passed away Jan. 20 at the age of 90. After serving in the Army during the Korean War, he worked for DuPont as a chemist for almost forty years. Al was a parishioner of St. Mary Magdalen Parish for over 60 years.
George E. Glynn Jr. passed away on Jan. 25 at the age of 90. George served for 12 years as superintendent of the Stanton School District and then as superintendent of Area II (now Red Clay Consolidated School District when the districts merged into the New Castle County School District. He retired after 31 years in public education in Delaware. He then began a 27-year career in private-school education working for philanthropists Bob and Dorothy Peoples at Caravel Academy as guidance director, director of admissions and headmaster.
Monica J. Marcozzi passed away Jan. 18 at the age of 81. She is survived by Ronald, her husband of 58 years, with whom she founded and administered Marcozzi Enterprises and later Marcozzi Properties. Monica volunteered at A.I. du Pont Hospital for Children and at St. Josephs on the Brandywine.
Phyllis Mills Wyeth, 78, a noted philanthropist and a successful owner and breeder of thoroughbred racehorses, died Jan. 14 at her home with her husband, Jamie, by her side.
Robert P. “Bob” Corrie Sr. passed away Jan. 25 at the age of 77. After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Marines, Bob started his career in banking with Farmers Bank and retired as the head of the Precious Metals Department of Mellon Bank.
Dr. Robert Gary Altschuler died on Jan. 12 at the age of 76. “Dr. Bob” held influential roles in Delaware’s leading institutions, including Instructor in Medicine at Jefferson Medical College, Senior Department of Medicine at Christiana Care Hospital, President of Medical Staff and Chief of Department of Medicine at St. Francis Hospital, Medical Director of Prucare of Delaware, President of New Castle County Medical Society, and team doctor for the football and wrestling programs of Tower Hill School.
The Honorable Steven H. Amick passed away Jan. 23 at the age of 71. Steve’s legal career began in 1972, working for Daley & Lewis, Attorneys at Law. He then joined the DuPont Co. Legal Department, beginning in 1974, and stayed until 1996. He also worked for Cooch & Taylor, Attorneys at Law. Steve was first elected to the Delaware House of Representatives in 1986. He was re-elected three times and chaired the Judiciary Committee, the House Rules Committee, the Substance Abuse Committee and the Joint Sunset Committee. Steve was then elected to the Delaware State Senate in 1994 where he held the positions of Senate Minority Whip and Senate Minority Leader. He remained undefeated until retiring in 2008.
Gregg Bacchieri passed away Jan. 15 at the age of 62. Gregg started his 30-plus year career with MBNA, which brought him to Wilmington, where he met Stacey. At MBNA, he sat on Mastercard and VISA International committees and was instrumental in instituting anti-fraud and security features that have since been implemented worldwide. Gregg sat on the boards of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware and Sanford School for many years.
