Certified Fraud Examiner certification given
George E. Luff II has been awarded the globally preferred Certified Fraud Examiner credential from The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). In order to become a CFE, Luff has met a stringent set of criteria and passed a rigorous exam administered by the ACFE in Washington, D.C. Luff is currently president of Luff and Associates, P.A. CPAs.

Peggy Eddens gets top honor in human relations
Peggy H. Eddens, executive vice president and chief human capital officer for WSFS Financial Corp., has received the 2016 Ron Shane Human Resources Lifetime Achievement Award. This award, given by The SHRM Delaware State Council Inc., is presented each year to the person who best represents a human resources professional in his/her daily life. Criteria for the award include dedication to the human resources profession, professional credentials and accomplishments, professional involvement and demonstrated HR leadership.

Wohlsen Construction Co. received three awards from the Delaware Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) at the association’s Annual Excellence in Construction Awards banquet.
Wohlsen received an Award of Excellence for Nanticoke Health Services’ Mears Medical Office Building in Seaford, and for the Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) Services provided for Universal Health Services’ Rockford Center Children’s Addition. Additionally, Wohlsen was presented an Award of Merit for the renovations to Presbyterian Senior Living’s Westminster Village Continuing Care Retirement Community in Dover.

Communicator of the Year Award presented
Tammy Watkins, assistant vice president for marketing and public relations at Delaware Technical Community College, has been named the recipient of the 2016 Communicator of the Year Award from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR), District I. This award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated special leadership and ability in the area of college marketing and communication. The award recognizes Watkins’ leadership of and contributions to Delaware Tech’s marketing and public relations initiatives, as well as to the profession of community college communicators.

New appointments to Department of Insurance
Trinidad Navarro is the Insurance Commissioner-elect for the State of Delaware, and the current New Castle County Sheriff has announced new appointments to the Department of Insurance.
The Commissioner-elect and his administration will take office on Jan. 3, 2017.
Mitch Crane has been announced to serve as Deputy Insurance Commissioner at the Delaware Department of Insurance. Crane, a former District Judge from Chester County, Pa., serves as
a hearing officer for Delaware’s Industrial Accident Board.
Stuart Snyder has been appointed Chief of Staff at the Delaware Department of Insurance. Snyder has been the Chief Deputy Sheriff of New Castle County since 2010.
Vincent Ryan has been named Senior Advisor to the Commissioner for Delaware Department of Insurance. Ryan was the campaign manager for Navarro for Insurance Commissioner.

Tailor elected to lead the Medical Society of Delaware
Prayus T. Tailor, M.D., a nephrologist who practices with Nephrology Associates, PA, was elected to lead the Medical Society of Delaware for 2017 during the professional organization’s 227th annual meeting on Nov. 19. Tailor has affiliations with Christiana Care Health Services, Newark and Wilmington; Saint Francis Hospital, Wilmington; and Union Hospital of Cecil County, Md.

Bartash announces new Vice President of Sales and Marketing
Jay Sterin has been announced as the vice president of sales and marketing at Bartash. Most recently he was a general manager at Broad Street Media, the Philadelphia publisher of 12 local newspapers including Philadelphia Weekly. Prior to that Mr. Sterin worked with publishers in the digital space and in radio, where he has managed and run radio stations.

Great Place to Work Institute recognizes Trinity Logistics
Trinity Logistics has been certified as a great workplace by the independent analysts at Great Place to Work Institute. The certification was based on results from anonymous surveys completed by Trinity Logistics team members throughout 2016.
According to the study, 86 percent of Trinity’s team members say it is a great workplace. Team members overwhelmingly said that often or almost always, Trinity has a great atmosphere, great challenges, great pride, great communication, great bosses, and great rewards. They believe that Trinity is a physically safe place to work, people celebrate special events, people care about each other, team members feel good about the ways Trinity contributes to the community, and team members are proud to tell others that they work for Trinity Logistics.
