SevOne, a Boston-based software company with a technology hub in Newark, has been acquired by Turbonomic, a cloud management firm also based in Boston. The deal closed Monday, November 4.

The two companies plan to combine their respective IP and customer bases to improve their suite of software services, which now cover the gamut of network management and performance diagnostics.

“Turbonomic helps customers assure performance through Application Resource Management. SevOne helps customers assure application performance through network performance management. The combined entities, each with strong intellectual property, loyal customer bases, will be able to deliver customers with better data, analytics and performance for the complete application infrastructure stack,” said Jill St. George, vice president of corporate marketing of SevOne.

St. George told the Delaware Business Times that the “the Newark office will remain our technology hub and will continue to expand as our development needs do.” She added that no layoffs were associated with the acquisition, although the company engaged in “minor restructuring” in recent months.

“The combined entities, with unique intellectual property, have an incredible opportunity to define the future of performance, said Benjamin Nye, chief executive officer at Turbonomic. “Over the last 10 years, we’ve invested $200 million to build the world’s leading Application Resource Management solution.
